In this Savory Apple Bacon Quick Bread a little bacon goes a long way. The result is a bread with a hint of sweetness from the apples and onions and flecks of salty smoky bacon to offset that sweetness. The finished bread is not only great on its own it also makes a sandwiches and French toast. For a versatile gluten free bread that’s as easy to make as it is delicious, this quick bread is the recipe for you. You’re right it would be awesome for a Christmas breakfast. Thanks for the? kind words.
This would go great with Christmas Breakfast. Thanks for sharing!? π
Thanks Lila. This? is a good one for the holidays.
Another great combination of flavors – this bread looks delicious! I think I’m going? to have to start a holiday list – your no bake cheesecake and this are perfect!
Hi Kelvin. The regular Bisquick should work out well. This makes a bread with more of a muffin texture but it’s not sweetened like a muffin. Hope? you like it if you make it.
Can we use? 2 cups of regular bisquick??
To replace 1 cup? of gluten free Bisquick I’d use:
2/3 cup rice flour
1/3 cup potato starch
Β½ tsp baking soda
1? tsp baking powder
1 tsp xanthan gum
1 tsp sugar (I’d omit the sugar if the Bisquick is being used in a savory dish)
ΒΌ? tsp salt
This recipe calls for 2 cups of gf bisquick so the amounts above will need to be doubled.
There are lots of g f bread recipes out there. This recipe is a quick bread with more of a muffin texture like banana bread without the sweetness.
We don’t have Bisquick in Australia! I really miss it! This would be great! Can you tell me what else I can use instead? Is there a? broken down recipe for gluten free bread?
Thanks for the? kind words Sandy,
This bread looks so beautiful Anne! Ithe? bread looks so soft and fluffy, it looks perfect! The sandwich looks AMAZING! I would eat 2 of those!!
Well, you make a? basic software work like a thoroughbred. I have watched your videos so often and thought they were movies. Plus Anne, I think this a real service to the gluten intolerant community, keep up the good work π
Steve
It would be awesome with some cider on cold? Winter’s Eve. Thanks for you awesome comments.
Thanks for the kind words. I use very basic software. To make the videos I use Windows Movie Maker (the older version before Windows Live Movie Maker). And I used Paint to make the frames used in the intro and end sequences. The music used is royalty free from incompetech.
To make the videos I basically take still of every step in the process. In essence my videos are a lot like? a talking recipe book with extra pictures.
Your videos are excellent. I just now realized? that these are artfully presented stills. What software do you use?
AWWW thank you my friend,,,, I can’t wait to try this bread,,, My? food store can’t seem to keep GF Bisquick on the Shelves,,, next time I find it,, I’m going to buy 3-4 boxes ,,Can’t wait to try this recipe,, Im so craving it… LOL! Ur such an amazing baker!! Hugs!!
You can feel free to leave a video response to any of my videos. I love all of your videos. And? you always do an excellent job instructing the viewers.
Thanks Anna,,I have been wanting to try your recipes that? call for the Greek Yogurt,,, would it be ok if I made a VR showing how I used my homemade yogurt giving you credit for the recipe? Im sitting her DROOLING over your Bread!! π
If I remember the video you did, the yogurt you make has an? excellent consistency so I think it would work out perfectly regardless of being lactose free. And the leftovers freeze well individually wrapped. The grilled sandwich was awesome and now I can quickly grill a few more sandwiches for lunch with those leftovers. Life is good when the freezer is packed with baked goods. π
Thanks Rich. Bacon makes everything? better.
Oh Boy Anna,, this looks so good! I loved the Grilled Cheese Sandwich! Yum and I like how quick you can make this! I will be trying this recipe for sure! Thank you,, One question,,can I use my Homemade Lactose? Free Yogurt in place of the Greek Yogurt?
Bacon in bread! You slay me! that’s a terrific looking loaf!?
Definitely the cooks privilege. I did indeed devour the end with some butter? of course.
It was a very tasty treat. π
Cooks privilege π The end piece with a little butter that is π
Thanks Anne, thumbs? up.
Steve
Oh my goodness, this recipe looks absolutely delicious! It has two of my favorites… Bacon & Apples – Actually, you had me with the Apple-Wood Bacon – Yummy! π lol Seeing that bread used as a sandwich is so awesome? and it looks so good too; I can’t? wait to try it! Seems like it would be a good Holiday bread to serve at a party, with some Hot Cider, on a cold Winter’s Eve – Thanks for sharing. π
